The New Carbon Economy will be defined by process improvements requiring the quantification and limitation of emissions by industry. The implementation of such systems will facilitate a growing demand for service related industries, providing emissions cost analysis for stakeholders.
Investment in established firms specializing in the measurement and reduction of industrial emissions will provide portfolio diversification to higher risk, technology driven investments. Environmental consulting firms are on track to grow as stable revenue producers.
Returns on the Funds’ investments will be fortified when portfolio companies prove themselves in the marketplace and achieve capital appreciation and realization of gains through IPO or strategic acquisition.
New Carbon Economy Venture Management Inc. (NCEVMI) is a venture capital firm specializing in clean technology and the low carbon segments. NCEVMI will prospect investment opportunities for the New Carbon Economy Fund and leverage their position in the field to optimize deal flow and financing opportunities for promising firms in the market.
New Carbon Economy Venture Management's role is to source investment opportunities in companies from the low carbon/clean technology universe, complete the required due diligence on each opportunity and recommend opportunities for portfolio inclusion. NCEVMI will proactively assist the investee company management on an ongoing basis with a mandate to maximize growth and shareholder value.
Financing Approach & Structure
The objective of The New Carbon Economy Fund is to earn favourable returns for investors. Returns will be earned in the form of capital appreciation as the underlying value of the investee company increases. Capital gains will be realized on the sale of an investment. The Fund Manager proposes to structure the investments in the fund primarily as convertible preferred shares which will have a preferential right on liquidation and a security charge on the intellectual property assets of each investee company. Duration of investment is targeted at five (5) years on average.
Fund Structure
The Investment Advisory Board will receive, review and authorize a full Investment Recommendation Summary document for every proposed investment opportunity.
Investment opportunities must be approved by the Investment Advisory Board in order to be eligible for financing and inclusion in The New Carbon Economy Fund portfolio.
After an investment, each New Carbon Economy Fund portfolio company will receive hands-on support from New Carbon Economy Venture Management Inc. and associated mentors in order to achieve best possible rates of return and overall growth goals.
